I ordered the Macbook from a place that didn’t have them in stock and who would have ordered it from Apple. Unfortunately, Apple has just discontinued the non-aluminum 13-in Macbooks. Several other places, including Amazon (via J&R and Small Dog Electronics) and MacMall still show them for sale but higher than what I was going to pay. The price at MacMall includes sending in a mail-in rebate which mostly I try to avoid.
Rather than go through placing an order and possibly getting it canceled, I ordered a refurbished Macbook for $949 from the online Apple store. I had to pay tax, but no shipping. It has a 1 year warranty, so I feel it’s just like new.
